Report on purchase of hospital pharmaceuticals

16-05-2012

Report no. 13/2011

The report is about the regions' purchase of hospital pharmaceuticals. The objective of the study is to assess whether the Ministry of Health and Prevention and the regions ensure that hospital pharmaceuticals are purchased at the lowest possible price. The report answers the following questions:

  • How much did the regions spend on hospital pharmaceuticals in the period 2005-2010?
  • Has the Ministry of Health and Prevention established a framework and entered agreements that ensure that the regions can purchase hospital pharmaceuticals at the lowest possible prices?
  • Has the Ministry of Health and Prevention considered other requirements than securing purchases at the lowest possible prices?
  • Has the Ministry of Health and Prevention kept the Danish parliament informed of the price agreement?
  • Have the regions and Amgros provided an adequate platform for procurement of hospital pharmaceuticals at the lowest possible prices

The report also answers five concrete questions put forward by the Public Accounts Committee and addressed in a memorandum to Committee of 2 August 2011 on the preparation of a major study of the regions' purchase of hospital pharmaceuticals.
