If you contact Rigsrevisionen by email or letter, for instance, with a request for access to public documents, your email or letter and our reply to you will be kept on record along with your contact details.

The next section describes how we process your personal data, when you contact Rigsrevisionen.

It is our responsibility to protect your personal data

Rigsrevisionen is subject to Regulation (EU) No. 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council and the General Data Protection Regulation No. 502 of 23 May 2018. Rigsrevisionen is responsible for processing the personal data that you send to us.

Lawful basis for processing personal data

The lawful basis for our processing of personal data is the Danish Auditor General Act, the Danish Public Administration Act, cf. Instruction for the Auditor General, the Danish Archives Act and article 6, subsection 1, para (e) of the General Data Protection Regulation.

Rigsrevisionen only processes personal data that you yourself have provided. Sensitive data will be processed in compliance with article 9, subsection 2, para (g) of the General Data Protection Regulation. Data on criminal offences will be processed in accordance with section 8, subsection 1 and subsection 2, no. 3 of the Danish Data Protection Act. Processing of data on personal identification numbers is done to verify identity in accordance with section 11, subsection 1 of the Danish Data Protection Act.

Rigsrevisionen will keep your data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes for which it was processed. 

Passing personal data to a third party

If you have complained about a decision that can be brought to the Speaker of the Danish parliament, in accordance with the Instruction for the Auditor General, your letter of complaint to us will be forwarded to the Speaker for processing.

Your data may also be passed on to a third party, if it is considered necessary for the processing of, for instance, a hearing or a briefing of relevant authorities to decide on a request for access to public documents. Rigsrevisionen may have an obligation to pass on your data, if we receive a request for access to your personal data. This obligation does not include confidential data.

Storing personal data

Rigsrevisionen keeps records of documents, including personal data, in our filing and document management systems in compliance with current filing and documentation requirements. A copy of all data is transferred to the Danish National Archives in compliance with the provisions of the Danish Archives Act. Rigsrevisionen has access to the data in the National Archives for a limited period of time after the data has been transferred.

Your rights as data subject

Data subjects have certain rights according to the General Data Protection Regulation and the Danish Data Protection Act, when public authorities and others process their personal data. 

You have a right to see the data that Rigsrevisionen has processed on you and stored in its IT-systems or archives. You also have a right to know for what purposes the processing has taken place. If you think that the data we have is incorrect or conveying a false impression, you have a right to ask us to either correct or delete the data. Rigsrevisionen has an obligation to respond to your enquiry.
