Report on the Danish Defence's support of its military operations in Afghanistan

Since the end of the Cold War and the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001, that changed the threat scenary, the Danish Defence has implemented a comprehensive reorganization of its activities. The Danish Defence has thus increased its engagement in international operations during the current Defence Agreement period (2005 - 2009). The report is about the support provided by the Ministry of Defence and the Danish Defence to Danish military operations in Afghanistan. Rigsrevisionen has launched the study on its own initiative.

Rigsrevisionen is addressing the following issues in the study: Have the targets set in the current Defence Agreement concerning international operations been achieved by the Ministry of Defence, the quality of the supply services provided by the Danish Defence to the deployed soldiers, has the Danish Defence ensured sufficient personnel with the right qualifications for international operations, and adequate pre-deployment training. Rigsrevisionen has also reviewed how the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are handling the concerted planning and action of civil and military activities in Afghanistan.
