The report deals with the local authorities’ and the Ministry of Social Affairs’ administration in 2004 of state pension and allowances old-age pensioners residing in Denmark. Government expenditure on old-age pension and allowances amounted to DKK 65.1 billion.
The purpose of the examination was to answer the question of whether local authority administration of old-age pension and allowances was satisfactory and equally whether the Ministry of Social Affairs’ administration of old-age pension and allowances was satisfactory.
The examination of the local authorities’ administration was carried out as a representative test in which local authority auditors were asked to fill in a questionnaire prepared by the Ministry of Social Affairs and the NAOD.
The examination of the Ministry of Social Affairs’ administration was carried out through interviews about procedures and case reviews of local authority audit reports and the Ministry’s cases regarding audit reports for 2002 and 2003, and presentation of the Ministry’s case processing systems.
