Report on effectiveness of Search and Rescue Services

The report deals with whether Search and Rescue Services (Søredningstjenesten) is effective in relation to performing sea rescue operations. The NAOD has examined each of the four phases in a rescue action: the preliminary handling of the alarm, readying the rescue units, transport to the scene of the accident and actual search and rescue. Furthermore, the NAOD examination has dealt with four particular problem areas regarding the operation and management of the Search and Rescue Services:

  • Briefing the Admiral Danish Fleet
  • Falck rescue boats
  • Maritime catastrophe planning
  • Division of responsibility and cross-sectional tasks.
