The report deals with the Immigration Service’s administration and award of residence permits for studies and work, and business visas. The examination consists of a review of 3,697 decisions made during the period 2002 – 1 May 2005.

The purpose was to examine whether the Immigration Service’s control of the award of permits in these areas is adequate. The report evaluates the Immigration Service’s control, IT systems and procedures and whether the Immigration Service has ensured a satisfactory development in case processing times. The report also deals with the role played by the government department of the Ministry of Refugee, Immigration and Integration Affairs.
