The report deals with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ coordination and cooperation with other donors and programme countries in connection with the organisation of Danish bilateral assistance.
Denmark has acceded to several international declarations regarding improved effectiveness in development assistance. Together with a number of other donors and developing countries, Denmark acceded to the so-called Rome Declaration in 2003. The purpose of the declaration is in part to increase harmonisation of donor efforts and for donors to adapt their efforts to the recipient countries’ own development strategies, institutions and procedures.
In the report, the NAOD examines whether the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organises and follows up on the assistance to the programme countries in compliance with international declarations on harmonising development assistance and adapting the assistance to the recipient countries’ own systems and priorities.
