This report is about the financial position of the hospitals in 2009. The background for the examination was the cost overruns detected in the hospitals in the spring 2010.
The report outlines the extent and consequences of the cost overruns in the hospitals in 2009. Rigsrevisionen also examined the basis upon which the hospitals and departments were controlling budgets in 2009 and whether the regions and hospitals followed up on and reconciled the activities and costs of the hospitals with the budgets on an ongoing basis in 2009.
The data for the report were collected in the period from March 2010 to November 2010. Rigsrevisionen took the initiative to the examination in March 2010.
