Report on the maintenance of government buildings

07-12-2005

Report no. 5/2005

The state owns buildings equal to a floorage of well over 6 billion m2. The NAOD has carried out a cross-sectional examination of the maintenance of government properties and buildings in respect of which the government has a maintenance obligation. The examination includes the Ministry of Defence, the Danish Prison and Probation Service under the Ministry of Justice, the Palaces and Properties Agency under the Ministry of Finance and the Danish National Research and Education Buildings under the Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation.

The NAOD has examined whether the legislative basis for maintenance and renovation is clear, whether appropriation provisions, etc. include specific conditions relating to the maintenance of buildings, whether the institutions ensure that the state of repair of the buildings is maintained and whether the state of repair of government buildings, including any backlog, appears from the accruals-based accounts.
