Rigsrevisionen’s strategy for 2015-2017

Rigsrevisionen audits public spending on behalf of the Danish parliament and seeks to strengthen the accountability of public administration to the benefit of the citizens.

We audit public spending in compliance with good public-sector auditing principles based on the fundamental principles of the International Standards of Supreme Audit Institutions (ISSAI).

Assessment of materiality and risk, and a holistic approach that looks across the public sector, provide the basis for our audit.

Focus areas 2015-2017

We will increase the impact of our audit by reporting on issues of current interest and - without compromising quality - by submitting more reports to the Danish Public Accounts Committee.

  • We will close the audit of the government accounts earlier in the year in order to give the Danish parliament access to the audit findings as early as possible.
  • We will submit more reports to the Danish Public Accounts Committee, which will increase the impact of our audit, because the Danish audit model requires ministers to follow up on our findings and recommendations.
  • We will reduce production time in order to provide reports that are of current interest.
  • We will increase our production without scaling down the high and uniform quality of our products.

Prioritised audit areas 2015-2017

In the years 2015-2017, our audit will be focused on:

  • the consequences of public-sector policies for citizens and companies
  • the coherence of policies and solving cross-cutting tasks in the public sector
  • the effect of reforms
  • e-government
  • good grant administration.
